"Veg-out" with a good book

When it comes to your health you never want to take someone's word for it (including mine). Everyone is different, and everyone wants different things for their own health. It's important to do research, ask questions, and educate yourself on the best way to care for your own body. While I’ll be the first to tell you vegan is the way to go, I think that it's important to make that choice for yourself. Below I have listed two books that I have personally read and highly recommend to those who are interested in the benefits of a vegan/vegetarian life style. Even if living vegan isn’t for you all three of the books still give in sight of the over all importance of nutrition and healthy diet.

I have posted a link for the first book I recommend, "Skinny Bitch." It will connect you to the "Skinny Bitch" web site. There you will be able to find information about the all the Skinny Bitch books as well as information about the authors. I have only read "Skinny Bitch" and "Skinny Bitch in the kitchen." If you are interested in information about living vegan I would recommend "Skinny Bitch." The book is filled with information about the dangers and dairy and meat products as well as pages of recipes and meat replacement options.

The second book is called "Slaughterhouse: The Shocking Story of Greed, Neglect, and Inhumane Treatment Inside the U.S. Meat Industry." Be warned this book is not for the fait of heart and definitely not G rated. It goes into descriptive detail of animal abuse and brutality within the meat packing industry. (This book was so horrific it took me a month to read.) As gruesome as it is, it is extremely informative and is a first hand account of what WE do to these helpless animals all over the country.

  1. Elan, good idea for a blog and pointing to information about issues related to living vegan and providing relevant links. This is your best entry because you give more personal view point about the living as a vegan and it speaks to the reader.
